Learn to do trapunto (stuffed quilting) by machine without cutting the back of your quilt to add stuffing! Hari Walner has developed this technique of using water soluble thread to create the sculpted effect. In class, you will make a small sample to try this technique. Advanced free motion skills and a reliable sewing machine is a must for this class.
Supplies:
-sewing machine
-extension table (if you have one)
-free motion or darning foot (must bring)
- piece cotton batting at least 20" x 20"
-2 pieces 80/20 batting for trapunto layer at least 20" x 20"
-1 piece light colored fabric 20" x 20" for top
-1 piece light colored fabric 20" x 20" for backing
-fine, sharp scissors
-removable fabric marking pen or pencil
-size 1 quilter's safety pins
-sewing machine needles size 80/12, Microtex Sharp
-water soluble thread (Superior brand preferred)
-rayon, polyester or cotton thread for quilting the top
-cotton thread, 50 weight for bobbin to match top
-quilting gloves such as Machingers (optioinal, but very helpful)
-basic sewubg supplies (scissors, extra bobbins)
-quilting stencils or patterns (optional), I will have patterns to choose from in class
