Pincushion Parade - March: Treats For The Sweet10026066 (10026066)

Come and join in the fun each month! We will fashion a new pincushion each meeting. These fabulously fun and fast projects will give you an opportunity to learn few new skills, try some new embellishments, and use tht beautiful or funky fabric you are ready to try. These small works of art are perfect for collecting or gift giving. Party favors (think baby shower with diaper pins), gift exchanges, door prizes, stocking stuffers, summer art projects and so much more.
Each class will be no more than 2-3 hours, giving students the opportunity to explore new ideas and FINISH their projects. Let your creativity go and have FUN.

Supplies:
-pattern: "Cupcake Pincushion" Portabellopixie Boutique Patterns
-fabric is determined by size of pincushion you choose to make. Store sample is the small cushion (Low Calorie):-). I recommend using cotton fabrics for your first cushion.
small cushion:
-top: 12" x 4" of 2 different fabrics
-ruffle: 3" x 1 1/2" strip
-rim: 2 each 6" x 6" pieces
-base 13" x 5" piece
-heavy interfacing / light cotton batting: 9" x 9" piece
large cushion:
-top: 15" x 5" of two different pieces
-ruffle: 40" x 2" strip
-rim: 2 each 9" x 9" pieces
-base: 18" x 7" piece
-heavy interfacing / light cotton batting: 6" x 6" piece
-decorative buttons or beads, cloth or crotchet flower for top of cupcake
-fiberfill and walnut shells-for stuffing
-sewing machine, 1/4" foot, regular open to foot
-sewing machine needles-size 70 sharp recommended
-coordinating sewing thread, hand sewing needle, thimble of desired
-scissors - paper and fabric
-pins, seam ripper
-teaspoon, small funnel with approx. 1/2" opening
-wooden iron-optional
Before Class: Please read through pattern and determine the size of cupcake yo wish to make. Sample in the store is the Low Calorie/small cupcake-approximately 4" square.
Cut out paper pattern pieces (make a copy from your pattern).
