2008 Block of the Month Clubs

We are going to have three Clubs this year; Bee Creative's Butterfly Kisses, Square in a Square®, and Thimbleberries.

Bee Creative's Butterfly Kisses Club

The Bee Creative Club will start in February and finish in November. We will meet each month and will start each meeting with a 30 minute demonstration of the new block and then we will have 2 plus hours for sewing. You can sew the current month's block, a previous month's block, or just stay and visit with fellow club members. You will also get additional projects and enjoy refreshments during the club meeting.

There will be two color ways to choose from for borders, the brown (shown above) or the green (shown below).

This is a great club to join because you will learn different techniques and short cuts each month, which can be used on your future projects. For example, you will learn several ways to make half square triangles and flying geese during the 10 months. The blocks are 18 inches and you will work on part of the sashing each month, so during our final session we will focus on finishing the quilt top.

Cost:

Square in a Square® Club

The Square in a Square® Club will start in February and finish in July. We are looking for a name for our Square in a Square Club, it is normally called ‘Sisters of the Square in a Square Society’, but we want our "brother" quilters to be included, so send me email with your suggestions and the winner will receive a $25 gift card to the store. We will select the name on February 11, 2008, so all suggestions must be received by 4pm Saturday, February 9, 2008 in order to count.

Fabric requirements for the 12 sample blocks, creating a non-scrappy, consistent look:

• Light - 1 1/2 yds
• Lt Med - 3/4 yd
• Med - 1 3/4 yds
• Dark Med - 1/4 yd
• Lt Dark - 1/4 yd
• Dark - 1 1/2 yds
• 4 additional med - 1/8 yd each

• $35 optional 7th month, 6 hour pattern adapting session
